swallowed. May cause respiratory tract irritation. Causes eye and skin
irritation. May cause liver and kidney damage. May cause cardiac disturbances.
Toxic.
Target Organs: Kidneys, heart, liver.
Potential Health Effects
Eye: Causes eye irritation.
Skin: Causes skin irritation. May be absorbed through the
skin in harmful amounts.
Ingestion: May cause systemic
toxic effects on the heart, liver, and kidneys. May cause severe digestive tract
irritation with abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.

may cause effects similar to those of acute inhalation and ingestion. May cause
reproductive and fetal effects.
|
Section 4 - First Aid
Measures |
Eyes: Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water
for at least 15 minutes, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Get
medical aid immediately.
Skin: Immediately flush skin with
plenty of soap and water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated
clothing and shoes. Get medical aid if irritation develops or persists.
Ingestion: If victim is conscious and alert, give 2-4
cupfuls of milk or water. Get medical aid immediately. Induce vomiting by giving
one teaspoon of Syrup of Ipecac.
Inhalation: Remove from
exposure to fresh air immediately. If not breathing, give artificial
respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Get medical aid.
Notes to Physician: Treat symptomatically and supportively.
|
Section 5 - Fire
Fighting Measures |
General
Information: As in any fire, wear a self-contained breathing apparatus
in pressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH (approved or equivalent), and full protective
gear. During a fire, irritating and highly toxic gases may be generated by
thermal decomposition or combustion.
Extinguishing Media:
Use extinguishing media most appropriate for the surrounding fire.
|
Section 6 -
Accidental Release Measures |
General
Information: Use proper personal protective equipment as indicated in
Section 8.
Spills/Leaks: Absorb spill with inert material
(e.g. vermiculite, sand or earth), then place in suitable container. Wash area
with soap and water. Clean up spills immediately, observing precautions in the
Protective Equipment section. Provide ventilation.
|
Section 7 - Handling
and Storage |
Handling: Wash thoroughly after handling. Use only
in a well-ventilated area. Avoid contact with eyes, skin, and clothing. Avoid
ingestion and inhalation.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry
place. Keep container closed when not in use.
|
Section 8 - Exposure
Controls, Personal Protection |
Engineering
Controls: Use adequate general or local exhaust ventilation to keep
airborne concentrations below the permissible exposure limits.
