Mass Spectral Tidbits

The classic text for interpretation of fragmentation of organic molecules is Interpretation of Mass Spectra by Fred McLafferty. If you are looking for more detailed treatments of fragmentations, or more extensive tables, this is the place.

A "short course" on MS has been developed at the University of Akron. It is basically set up around GCMS, but is good for general MS review. Among other things, there are general rules for fragmentations, some example problems, and tables.

This is a link to JEOL company, which is a manufacturer of mass spectrometers. Their general MS page has a nice comparison of different ionization methods and mass analyzers, but there is lots of other good information to be accessed from their site.

More links to mass spectrometry info can be had at the MSLINKS site.
